What Can I Expect My Child To Learn...

The students at the Boyd School learn how to learn. The world of the child is full of sights and sounds, which at first appear chaotic. From this chaos, the child gradually creates order and learns to distinguish among the impressions that assail his senses; slowly, but surely, gaining mastery of himself and his environment. We give children long periods of uninterrupted time and expose them to a range of intellectual, physical, and social activities. Children learn to ask questions, make decisions, and seek challenges.

In order to develop his physical, intellectual, and spiritual powers to the fullest, the child must have freedom. Intellectual growth flourishes in a nonjudgmental community where freedom for the individual is balanced with the needs of the group. We recognize the importance of each child's early experiences in the formation of an emotionally healthy responsible adult.

... And How Do We Make This Happen?

We always attempt to keep clear vision and ask ourselves what is best for the children. Children are the focus of our school - we begin and end our day with them. A sense of humor, the ability to be flexible and lots of hard work are critical to the success of our program. With teachers, staff, parents, and children always keeping the vision of Montessori; our school is a vital and growing environment.
