Before and Aftercare Programs
Before and After Schooll Programs are available for current families of The Boyd School and Lola's Place Campuses.

Before School
Our schools open at 7:30 am for children who arrive at the school before regular classroom hours (beginning at 8:30). Children begin their day playing quiet indoor games or weather permitting, begin their day outdoors until it is time to transition to their classroom.

Nap and Rest Time
Toddlers
Toddler children who stay for extended day will share lunch in the classroom and then a quiet rest or nap period. Children normally go down for their rest between 12:30 and 1:00 and wake between 2:30 and 3:00.

Early Childhood
Children from the ages of 3-5 years who stay for extended day will share lunch in the classroom and then a quiet rest period. Children under the age of 5 are required by Virginia State Law to have a rest period in their day. After 30 minutes, if they are not asleep, they are able  put away their rest mat and return to activities in the classroom.

Kindergarten
Kindergarten students do not have a designated rest period and return to classroom activities with their kindergarten peers once they have finished lunch and clean-up with their class.

After School
The Boyd School
The After School Program is open for Early Childhood, Elementary and Middle School Students from 3:15-6:00pm daily.

Lola's Place at The Boyd School (Herndon and Cascades)
The After School Program is open for Toddler and Early Childhood students from 3:00-6:00pm at the Herndon Campus and from 3:00-6:30pm at the Cascades Campus.

Both Programs offer children time for active play, nature exploration, sports, art projects, music, cooking and social interactions in a home-like atmosphere. We offer a monthly calendar of activities for the program created by our Special Projects staff person. All of our After School staff are trained on a regular basis for the curriculum guide that is provided for the year.
