Mission Statement

 

To provide a solid academic foundation in education employing the philosophy and material developed by Dr. Maria Montessori.

 

To provide a child-centered environment which emphasizes the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of the child.

 

To assist the child in developing a positive self-image and fostering satisfying personal relationships.

 

To provide a warm, secure and rich environment in which curious young children have the opportunity to develop a favorable attitude toward learning.

 

To accept each child as he/she is and to assist them in the development of their own personality and pattern of learning as fully as possible.

 

To assist the child in understanding the law of "sow and reap" as a way in which life expresses itself.

 

The Boyd School is accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The Boyd School follows the teaching and research of Dr. Maria Montessori as the educational philosophy of the school. We always attempt to keep a clear vision and ask ourselves what is best for the children. Children are the focus of our school. A sense of humor, the ability to be flexible and lots of hard work are critical to the success of our program. With teachers, staff, parents and children always keeping the vision of Montessori, our school is a vital and growing environment.
